FAQ for Medico-legal - SafeHaven
How long does it take for a referral to be processed and a client receive an appointment?
We process all referrals within 2 working days. The referrer will be contacted to confirm the details. The referee will also be contacted and sent a welcome letter confirming the next steps.
Do you offer medico-legal report writing, and if so what are the fees?
Yes we do offer medico-legal report writing. Mini reports for assessments, treatment recommendations etc. begin at £390. Full length reports begin at £1400. Note: prices can vary extensively depending on the condition being assessed. Therefore we would ask if you forward over all details needed for the required report, and we will be happy to provide you with a quotation by return.
How long does it take for an expert witness report to be provided?
We typically see claimants within 4-6 weeks after receiving an instruction. Providing we have all the necessary documentation the report is provided within 2 weeks of the final interview.
Do you have a psychologist/psychotherapist/psychiatrist who can carry out an assessment and attend a subsequent court hearing?
Yes we do. The specialist provided would depend on the details of the case.
Will our client have to attend the Wilmslow location?
Not necessarily. Our medico-legal experts are located throughout the UK. We will always endeavor to place your client with a clinician as local to them as possible, for their convenience.
If they are attending the Centre for treatment then they will be attending our Wilmslow location for the majority of care-plans. The exceptions to this are those attending the Dolphin Assisted Therapy programme, which is on Grand Bahama Island in the Bahamas, or our Equine Assisted Therapy programme, which is located in the Lake District.
Our client is looking for trauma treatment other than tfCBT/EMDR, could one of your other therapies be suitable?
Quite possibly. However, in order to determine that we would ask your client attends the Centre for a half day assessment to evaluate their current condition/symptoms and discuss suitable treatment options. We would then provide a mini report detailing a recommended care-plan, agreed in conjunction with your client.
